Get to Know the Founder
Founded in 2023, Own Your Mind began as a mental health project that has grown into a focused mission dedicated to the mental and physical health of women and underrepresented minority groups.
Aarya Bhatt is a 17-year-old high school junior at Poolesville High School in the Global Ecology Program. She started this initiative at just 14, driven by a profound passion for women’s advocacy. Her dedication led her to a summer session at Johns Hopkins University focused on social inequality, where she studied the systemic barriers facing marginalized communities. As an Indian woman, Aarya intimately understands the experience of being underrepresented, a perspective that fuels her drive to ensure every voice in her community is heard and supported through her work with Own Your Mind.
